Stephen Bowens is a Disabled Veteran who retired from the US Army after serving more than 28 years. He is the President of Veteran Mobility, a Military Quality of Life improvement organization that he founded in 2022. Veteran Mobility provides adaptable mobility resources and logistic support to Disabled Veterans with the goal of improving their mobility and physical capacity. Its goals are to enhance individual productivity, strengthen readiness and resilience, and address the challenges military service members, veterans, and their families face. Being a disabled Veteran puts Bowens in the best position to understand the needs of disabled Veterans. He will be offering leadership from a strategic and informed point of view. His understanding of disabled Veterans challenges puts him in the best position to lead an organization that looks after the needs of disabled Veterans.

Stephen has served as a Director of Advocacy and Resiliency programs throughout his military and federal career. His last active duty assignment was as the U.S. Army Sexual Harassment Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Sergeant Major, Pentagon Washington District of Columbia. He is dedicated to improving the quality of life, mobility, and mental health of Veterans and their families. Stephen’s enthusiasm, business acumen, and love of the country allow him to provide resources and insight on many issues vital to improving our Veterans' mobility and psychological wellness. His concern for men and women who have served makes him serve them passionately.

Stephen has senior Army-level experience in advocacy, resiliency, and fundraising. Combined with his total commitment to serving the needs of Veterans and their families, he brings unique skills to support the mission of Veteran Mobility. He has partnered with various agencies to improve family wellness, Veteran training, referral networking, fundraising, and suicide mitigation awareness events. His skills in these various events put him in the best position to lead the organization. In this respect, it is critical to note that the organization is non-profit, meaning that there are skills and strategies that leaders need to raise money. Considering that Stephen had served in various fundraising events while still serving in the military, he can mobilize funds for the business.

Stephen has a strong drive to give back to the families who have given their all and whose lives have been irrevocably changed as they have supported our nation. This specific characteristic aligns with the organization's goal to improve the lives of the men and women who have served this nation. Stephen is passionate about improving the lives of members of society. Considering he will not lead a profit organization, he must source his motivation far beyond earnings and profits; he needs to have an internal drive. An internal drive or motivation ensures that he does not look for tangible gains but has the zeal to change lives.
